What are Dermal Fillers?

Is the treatment suitable for everyone?

Good candidates for Dermal Fillers are patients who have fairly deep wrinkles, who have noticeable volume loss or simply wanting to look refreshed.

Before Treatment

Blood-thinning medications including Fish oil tablets, Aspirin, and Anti-inflammatories should be avoided for 1 week to avoid bruising.

Please ensure the area is clean and free of make-up on the day.

You will need to read and sign a consent form to ensure you are well informed of the procedure.

During Treatment

Few clients may prefer to have an anesthetic numbing cream applied to the area prior to treatment which needs to be purchased from the pharmacy and applied some 30 minutes prior to treatment.

Doctors administer local anesthetic nerve blocks if the cream effect is not sufficient, requested or needed for the area.

Post Treatment

Results are visible immediately.

There is no downtime although you may experience some swelling, bruising or local discomfort post-treatment but will be able to resume your usual activities most of the times straight away.
Results usually last between 4 – 12 months depending on the area being injected, its mobility and the type of filler used.

Although dermal fillers injections are usually safe, some very rare and serious complications could occur such as blindness, skin necrosis, blocked blood vessels or local ongoing allergic reaction. This highlights the importance of carefully choosing an experienced practitioner.
